Does anyone no how to get a Genesis file in to Worldcraft ?
My search turned up a ton of topics concerning doing just the opposite.
I have tried loading a Genesis .map file with only a single omni light entity and it just crashed.
Also, I am using the latest Worldcraft titled Hammer and GenEdit 1.1.

You must have a converter to do the job.
I never heard of such tools available.
Be aware that GEdit and Worldcraft don't have the same way to represent a world/level. (X,Y,Z are not matched for example).

Oh well, I was hoping it would not require a converter. Since I can get .map file into Worldcraft I thought it would be simple to do the reverse but you are correct about the world coordinates being different. Thanks for the response.

Quark Quark Quark.
Quark will convert Worldcraft 3 to Quake1 map format (which genesis likes), and will give the best texture coordinate conversion. I use it all the time.
I don't even know how to use Quark either- I don't set up my wad or entities or anything. I just set it to be in Quake1 mode, open up my worldcraft map, and re-save it out with a new name.

Stickle, if you read the question's topic you would know that he wants to go from G3D to WorldCraft. Not from WorldCraft to G3D.

It wouldn't be too hard to write an exporter like that... Maybe i'll give it a try when I find the time. Since I need to rewrite my whole Surface Generator code under the aspect of compatibillity between G3D and Quake/HL maps this would "be on the way".

Thanks Stickle,I will give Qaurk a try. You never know,I might get lucky.
BlAeQ8, I would be forever in your debt if you did a converter but I think I would probably be the only one using it. So please do not go out of your way but if you do I could offer you up some art content in return for your work.
Thanks Again

Ha ha. I am an idiot. Thankfully you are in luck- I know how to do that as well.
World Editor 2 for genesis can export a Quake style map file, which Worldcraft should read:

Thanks for all the help but I am not having any luck getting GenEdit2.0 .map files into Worldcraft either. I do appreciate everyones help none the less.So I guess I will break down and just rebuild things. If nothing else I will have a better understanding of the Hammer editor.

Weird, I just did it and had no problems. (Though text coords are different)
Do your textures exist in both the .txl and .wad?

Maybe, I am doing it wrong.
Here is how I have been trying to do it.
I compile with Genesis 2.0 after removing all but one light entity.
I then try to open the .map file (created from the compile)in Hammer and the screen just flashes but nothing shows up. It does not crash just pretends nothing happend.

Yep, I have textures loaded in both .txl and .wad.
What version of Worldcraft are you using?

Don't compile it- export it out. I don't have it in front of me, but I belive you can either export it, or "save as" a .map.

WAHOOOOO!!!
Stickle you are my hero. I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. Besides using export and not the compiled .map file.
If you look for export in Gen2.0 in the file pull down it is greyed out until you select some geometry. Once I realised this it worked. If I can hook you up with some cool sky maps just drop me an e-mail. I feel like I owe you something for your help. Thanks again
